중국, 탐사 로봇 "Zhurong" 화성 착륙 성공

미국, 러시아, 그리고 중국

이제 중국은 화성에 화성에 도달한 3번째 나라가 되었다.

 

Tianwen-1호가 발사된 이후, 10개월 만에 화성에 탐사로봇 "Zhurong"을 무사히 안착시켰다.

"Zhurong, 주룽" 은 중국 고대 신화 속 "불의 신"을 뜻한다.

 

지구와 화성 간 거리는 대략 3억㎞가 정도가 되고,  화성에서 지구로 전파가 오는 데 약 18분 정도의 시간이 걸리기 때문에 실시간 조종은 불가능하다.  화성 대기 밀도는 지구의 1%에 불과해 우주선이 하강할 때 속도를 줄일 수 있는 대기 마찰력이 적기 때문이다. 그래서 이간을 마의 7분 구간이라 부른다. 

 

주룽은 미국 나사가 2000년대 개발한 로버인 스피릿과 오퍼튜니티와 유사한 생김새를 지녔다.

무게 240kg에 태양 전지판으로 동력을 만들어낸다.

주룽에는 카메라와, 토양과 암석 조성을 분석하는 센서, 땅속 얼음을 탐색하는 레이더, 기상 관측장비, 자기장 감지기 등 6가지 장비가 실려 있다.

China has successfully landed its first rover on Mars.

The Tianwen-1 lander touched the planet's surface 

after surviving the treacherous descent by parachute.

China's President Xi called the landing an outstanding achievement 

and said the scientists had placed China in the advanced ranks 

of planetary exploration, Michael Bristow reports 

 

Only two other nations have reached the red planet,

the United States and Russia.

So there was understandable apprehension among chinese scientists. 

The landing craft entered the Martian atmosphere in a protective capsule.

Then parachuted towards the surface.

Earth is too far away to control this delicate process.

The rover was on its own rockets slowed the descent further

before the final part of this 10-month journey.

 

Touchdown.

 

The six-wheeled landing craft named Zhurong.

Then opened its solar panels and sent back a signal to earth. 

Back in China

There was relief joy and celebration

This is the country's first mission to Mars.

 

It should be said that this was not an easy task

it is our first time down this path and we have met many difficulties

 

The rover will spend three months collecting data

 

China is now undoubtedly one of the world's leading nations in

interplanetary exploration.

 

But the chinese are not the only ones interested in Mars

 

In February, 

the U.S rover Perseverance made a successful landing there

Competition between these two leading nations now extends

millions of kilometers into space,
